Cynicism isn’t a trait Chloe usually hears being attributed to herself. Normally she would protest but, in this situation, it could indeed be healthy. Nice as it would be to bumble along and take everything at face value, she can’t quite bring herself to do so. All the positive chirp she can muster doesn’t take away the lingering feeling of unease.

Story of her life, really. A good chunk of it, anyway.

"Those could be reason enough," she agrees. "Or because they can do all of this, I suppose." Chloe has plenty of experience with powerful figures doing things Just Because. And whatever has brought them here must be more than a mere bored mortal.

Relieved her rambling hasn’t induced eye-rolling, Chloe takes her hand so she can shake it. "Delighted to meet you, Jennifer. It’s a shame it isn’t under better circumstances."
