Our natural inclination to cultivate a certain amount of apathy is like that nervous response in our stomach that tells you when you're full. You need it there shutting off your appetite to live comfortably. If you shut it off completely or let it become hyper-sensitive, now you've got an eating disorder. So sure, let apathy eclipse all your other functions of course it's going to be problematic. That's a problem of moderation though, not apathy itself."

He says this matter of factly while hoovering up another vodka water without a passing glance at irony.
