Only that their ability to tell what the fuck is going on is a lot less than the Ancient's. That if they could see how she sees, they'd see the exit. And the hands off teaching style means 'walk yourself to the door.' It might be its own kind of fail, but it doesn't make keeping them here malicious. 'God' didn't see an immortal murderer crashing his lyctor party, so what can the Ancient miss? How closely is she watching?
