The universe—or people, specifically Harrow—can act completely predictably and still surprise for the details. Looking back at all her escape attempts, there's good ones once you get past the amateur single digit age years. Harrowhark, Gideon gives her this, really commits to what she's doing. The last one took more effort than most anyone would expect of a necromancer. Physically. "If we didn't jump, there wouldn't be much of a point to it," Gideon admits. There's little Gideon won't put herself through to get Harrow home alive.

She takes the hand and shakes it firmly. That ritual is something she's mostly used to. "Gideon," she says. "Did you go through the funhouse of mirrors? A while back? Similar vibe."
