Everyone's perspective is valuable. It's nice to have someone who knows certain things. ( Namely the history she doesn't have to find the words for and say them out loud. ) It's equally useful to have those who can see it all with completely fresh eyes. Assuming fronts aren't being put up, we're all just as we are and accepted. The things that separate don't really seem to matter so much here.
