Ah, shit. Kyle has a point, and Hawks knows it. He's been literally cosying up to the villains for quite some time now; it makes him blasé on purpose, always completely neutral about things when he talks to anyone who isn't one of them lest his perpetuate their rhetoric. But Kyle isn't from their world, and he catches that hook right away, and how even Hawks takes it for granted.
"Yeah. It's not that what we have is perfect. I like being a hero but I wish we didn't have to go so hard. My dream is a world where heroes can relax and have time to just exist. I'm not a pacifist or anything, because I can't really afford to be, but I don't think the extremism we're seeing is any sort of answer." That much is true, no matter what lies he's had to tell the villains league to get them to accept him. He hates lying, actually.
"Almost out. Cool. Law school? That sounds like a ton of school. I never did the college thing, but I never had to. You seem like a smart guy. I bet you'll be a great lawyer when you get home and do all of that."
