Malcolm likes her. Is it because she likes him? Maybe. But he thinks that Chloe actually cares about him, and that means a lot. He hasn't had a lot of friends in his life. He's been the weird kid whose dad is a serial killer. So far, he hasn't had to be that here. Chloe seems to like him for him.

"Does it matter if I'm enjoying myself but everyone else is miserable because of my musical abilities, or lack thereof?" he asks jokingly. Malcolm's really not that bad.
