“I don’t think that was it,” Chloe says. “I mean, look: I’m not a fan of God’s parenting style. He messed His kids up pretty bad. But… He didn’t leave because He was lazy, or avoiding responsibility. At least, that’s not how Lucifer characterized it, and if anyone has reason to think the worst of his Dad, it’s Lucifer.”

She takes a sip of her beer.

“God left to be with Lucifer’s Mom. To live in Her universe. After She’d had to be in His for so long. That seems like an okay reason to me.”
