Carter nods, bracing himself and his shielding so that nothing but the song he's chosen will get through. He doesn't want to hurt David and the fact that there's even a slim chance is making him realize all over again exactly how dangerous he could be to people.

But he pushes all of that down and just thinks about the song, starting to strum his guitar and sing.
