Ⅰ (A.) ARRIVAL:

After the last island they were on, although mostly peaceful and beautiful, the carnival is a welcome change of pace. The scent of flowers being replaced by fried food, candy, and the under smell of dirt and wild animal dung.
Carter walks around the midway, looking up at all the lights, rides and attractions. He's always loved a good carnival, hell he even likes a shitty carnival. There's something about it that no matter where its been set up it always feels like walking into a different, older world.

"Do you think we need to pay to go on the rides?" He asks out loud.

Ⅰ (B.) THE TEMPLE:

Out of all the Temple's they've had so far this is probably Carter's favorite, not only is it charmingly rustic and vintage but there is a built in sense of community to it. From the circular layout, to the stove and showers, it seems to promote sharing and interaction. It's not fancy and there are some that will probably wish for more privacy but he finds this place more soothing than any of the others. He sits off to the side of one of the wooden trailers, a beat up guitar on his lap that he is slowly tuning, pausing every once in a while to look up at both the stars and the lights from the midway.
Feel free to join him, sit for a bit or even request a song. If you ask nice enough he'll probably play for you.

Ⅲ. THE CAROUSEL:
CW: childhood trauma, family death, abandonment

It wouldn't be a carnival if there wasn't a carousel.

The second Carter spies it he grins and starts to walk over to it, vaguely curious as to why there doesn't seem to be anyone on or running it. It stands empty and alluring and after a quick glance around he steps up on the platform, walking slowly to look at each of the mighty wooden steeds. Such strong and sturdy beasts, how many laughing children have they carried on their backs? He smiles and is about to leave when one in particular catches his eye, a large golden lion that sits on the outer rim. The eyes are forest green and its mane is frozen forever in a strong wind, blowing back from its open ferocious mouth.

Carter's smile grows and he looks around guiltily, surely no one would mind if he just sat on it for a second?

As he swings his leg up and over the lion the carousel lurches to life, as if it were waiting for him to make himself comfortable before waking. He looks around and sees no one at the controls and starts to get off but then...
then things change.

When he steps off the ride he is no longer the strapping young man he grew to be, but is now a scrawny thirteen year old boy who looks very confused.

"Mom?" He calls out, his voice sounding tiny against the loud screams of the rest of the carnival.

"Mom?! Where are you?" He asks, his voice breaking as the panic sets in and the tears start to come. He starts to cry because deep down he knows she isn't here, deep down he knows that he is lost and all alone.
