He was so focused on the offense offered to him from the flowers that David didn't know he was being approached. Not until someone was laughing. David turned his attention to the source of the noise and was shocked to see the man there. Which was silly, he had heard laughter, he shouldn't be shocked by a person. But really, he'd just assumed that the laughter was the natural call of one of the weird ass animals here.
"Ha ha, very funny. I'm talking to the plants," he answered, before gesturing specifically to the one that relieved headaches. "That brews into a headache tea. Not as good as old fashioned willowbark, but it would work. It's mocking me by being right here right now."
