"I'd rather be a pet than a food source, but it's not like I get to chose. I think a lot of our fellow travelers have a lot of illusions about the amount of control they have in our given situation."

She pulls one of the pots off the burner and rests it on a fabric pad. "If we're being fed on, no one seems to be being tortured in the process, but who knows? This could all just be the prepping stage. We are remarkably vulnerable at the moment."
