"It's probably wrong that I hope that you're right," Kyle muses.

Kyle's scowl deepens. "I can hear it, I just... I just don't want to," he finishes lamely. "And we're not talking about me. We're talking about YOU." Which of course means that they're skirting way too close to things he really is trying to avoid thinking about.
